PALLAS.75 — the series platform

PALLAS.75 is the compact UGV platform from ALPS.Robotics — a series product built on years of preliminary development. Tracked drive, a robust CNC-milled aluminium housing and a modular payload mount make it a versatile carrier for civil applications indoors and outdoors.

The platform is based on the ZELOS range, already in production, from which today’s PALLAS family grew. Proven mechanics, production maturity and documented spare parts availability are therefore there from day one.

  • Drive concept: tracked — 2× drive sprocket (milled aluminium spoked wheel), 2× rollers per side
  • Drive sprocket diameter: approx. 269.55 mm

  • Load plate: four Kipp quarter-turn latches (male version) take the payload platform; power and data interface under one cover
  • Ergonomics: carrying handle centred underneath, side handles left and right

Software & ecosystem

The firmware is being rebuilt from scratch on the 2026 control architecture. Together with the KyROS software (Python, CANopen) it is to be disclosed — publication will be via github.com/NEXOSGroup. The repositories are not public yet; we give access on request. That makes the PALLAS.75 a documented entry point into mobile robotics — for research and teaching as well.

Control concept

Three levels, one range

Not every application needs the same computing power. A platform patrolling a defined route makes different demands from one finding its own way through unknown terrain. The control concept is therefore built in three levels — they differ in the computing layer, not in the vehicle underneath.

  1. Level 1 — basic control. Safety-related vehicle control unit with the corresponding motor controllers. Covers remote control, drive and safety functions — without onboard autonomy.
  2. Level 2 — onboard computer with Linux and ROS 2. Mission logic, navigation and operation run on a computer of their own. Based on a TQ-Systems TQMa8x or a Kontron/congatec i.MX8 module from Germany and Austria respectively, with an NXP chip — a documented supply chain and industrial modules designed for long availability. NXP guarantees parts in its Product Longevity Program a minimum availability of ten or fifteen years. Where more computing power is needed, an NVIDIA platform is the alternative.
  3. Level 3 — customer-specific onboard computer. A computing layer designed for the project, with AI processing on board — for object recognition, anomaly detection or evaluation directly in the vehicle.

Whatever the level, every platform comes with a remote control for manual operation — always included in the delivery. Everything beyond that, from the fixed control station to the charging infrastructure, is a system component or an accessory.

Drivetrain of the PALLAS.75

The PALLAS.75 runs on a maxon motor and gearbox combination, controlled by the maxon EPOS4. Above that sits the onboard computer based on a TQ-Systems TQMa8x or Kontron/congatec i.MX8 module.

The approach saves development time: the EPOS4 removes the need to develop our own motor controller, the drive components are catalogue parts with documented availability, and at the computing level ROS 2 brings a large open-source ecosystem with it.

Modular payload

One interface, many superstructures

Different superstructures can be mounted quickly through the payload interface. Mechanically this is so far defined for one size only: the PALLAS.75 takes the payload platform on four latches. From the PALLAS.150 upwards the payload dimension is defined (800 × 1,200 mm, divisible into smaller modules on the same grid); the fastening system for it is being developed together with the first customers. The number in the model name is the unladen weight of the platform; payload is half of it in each case. Figures for the PALLAS.75 are the series standard. For the larger sizes these are design targets of ongoing development — binding data on request.

How the range grows

PALLAS.75 is available. Prototypes of PALLAS.150 and PALLAS.2400 — the next size up and the largest — are in production. PALLAS.300 to PALLAS.1200 are fully engineered and exist as designs; they will be built for specific projects.

A civil range: PALLAS is positioned exclusively for civil use — no armament, no military features. For defence applications there is the parallel range ODIN.75 to ODIN.2400 from NEXOS.Defence.
